This episode is a prime example of how ADHD and over-caffeination make for some interesting observations, albeit off-topic ones. Along with squirrel parties and bug bites, we discuss some more apparent examples of Christian privilege, those in the public school system. Everything from teaching creationism alongside evolution in science classes to requiring students to say the pledge of allegiance, which includes the words "under God" are examples of the way Christian privilege erases other religions and those who choose not to practice religion at all.
Provide clear examples of Christian privilege in the United States public school system.
Explain why said examples erase those of other religious backgrounds, including those who choose not to practice religion at all.
Provide examples of teaching religion in schools that are inclusive and non-imposing.
Provide examples of how Christian schools are protected from laws meant to ensure the safety and well-being of children and explain why this is problematic.
Privilege: A special right, advantage, or immunity granted or available only to a particular person or group of people.
Religion: The belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.
Creationism: The belief that the universe and living organisms originate of specific acts of divine creation, as in the biblical account, rather than by natural processes such as evolution.
Evolution: The process by which different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed and diversified from earlier forms during the history of the earth; the gradual development of something, especially from a simple to a more complex form.
