Explain how privilege relates to intersectionality.

Intersectionality is the understanding that there are various facets to a person’s identity such as gender, race, sexual orientation, etc. Furthermore, intersectionality is the understanding that these various facets cannot be examined individually, but rather are linked and layered and can only be examined together. For instance, a black womancannot explore her identity as just a woman or just black because she is affected uniquely as a black woman.

Privilege: A special right, advantage, or immunity granted or available only to a particular person or group of people.
