4th Annual Refugee and Immigrant Day at the State Capitol 2017

WHEN: Thursday, February 16th, 2017
General Gathering: 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. (Press Conference at 1:30 p.m.)
Day breakdown: 9:00am-1:00pm Legislator Meetings
1:00-4:00pm General Gathering. All are welcome!
1:30pm Press Conference
2:00pm Session Observation passes available

WHERE: The press conference will take place at the back terrace behind the Capitol Rotunda building. Music will start at 1:00 and the press conference at 1:30. 

WHO: Organized by a coalition of agencies: Catholic Charities of Louisville – Migration and Refugee Services, Kentucky Refugee Ministries, Americana World Community Center and International Center of Kentucky

WHY: It is important for elected officials on all levels to be educated about the refugee resettlement program and the contributions refugees and immigrants make to our state. It is also a civic engagement opportunity for all Kentuckians, including newcomers in our state, to learn how to participate in our democracy.
